Clearing The Windows Spooler
Have you ever had a printer job not delete? Maybe a printer wont delete because of a stuck job? Often, simply restarting Windows solves the problem, but sometimes it doesnt. Here are the instructions on how to delete your jobs stuck in the printer spool.
1. Open up a command prompt window. You can do this by pressing the windows key and r and then typing in cmd or you can click on Start-run and then type in cmd. If you are using Vista or Windows 7, you can simple click start, type in cmd , look where it say cmd in the results right click and select run as administrator. On Vista/7 you must run this with Administrative priveleges.
2. Once you are in a command prompt , type this (minus the marks) :
net stop spooler
*Do not close this window yet*
3. Now browse to C:\windows\system32\spool\printers
Youll see what appears to be .swf files as well as other files. Delete all of the files in this folder, this clears out the printer spooler.
4. Now go back to the command prompt window from earlier, and type in:
net start spooler
5. Now your printer spooler is cleared and your print jobs should be gone as well as your printers deleted if you tried deleting them earlier and they wouldnt work. You may have to refresh the printer folder, log off, or sometimes restart.
